Kaziranga National Park is situated in Assam and is home to more than 2200 Indian Single Horned Rhinoceros, which is 2/3rd of the world’s total Rhinoceros population. I went there in the year 2022, in the month of November. Assam, particularly the upper Assam, has a beautiful winter. Winters are bright and sunny with pleasant temperatures. The greenery and tea gardens add to the beauty of winter. Thus, it is better to visit Kaziranga during the months of November to February. The nearest airport is in Jorhat, which is well-connected to Delhi, Kolkata, and Guwahati.

The information for tourists enthusiastic to visit Kaziranga National Park is well described in the website. There are four things one must try in Kaziranga National Park. One is elephant safari, another one is jeep safari, the third one is the cultural show at Orchid National Park in evening, and the last one is to taste the traditional thali at Orchid National Park.

Elephant Safari are conducted early in the morning, and there are generally two time slots. It is wiser to book for the safari beforehand. During the safari, we saw few rhinoceros closely. There were deer too. The view of the grassland, rhinoceros, majestic elephants, deer, birds, and the water bodies was simply majestic in the early morning. One can see the single-horned rhinoceroses closely during the elephant safari as the elephants can walk inside the grassland.

Another thing to experience is the jeep safari. The jeeps follow a motorable track. One may get the overall view of Kaziranga and may spot few rhinoceros, mostly from a distance. We saw a Rhinoceros running, the huge creature running at a very high speed is a rare experience to see.

During evening, one may watch the cultural show at Orchid National Park. The show presents various folk and traditional dances from Assam. One gets to know about the diversity of existing cultures within the state of Assam.

Another must do thing is to see the orchid collections in the Orchid National Park and then taste the traditional Assamese thali at the Orchid National Park eatery. The thali, when we experienced, had about 20 local dishes, costing about INR 200/- per thali.

These are the four suggestions to experience in the Kaziranga National Park. One may customize their travel plan as per their own requirements and choices.
